Colour scheme and initial drawings

My overall concept, at a glance, is the idea of taking ordinary or mundane objects that are un-interesting or blank in appearance and injecting interest through the use of colour, print and tactile, textured surfaces.

My inspiration has predominantly originated from installations within unexpected urban environments, examples including an article in Vice Magazine about Nishant Shukla, Camille Wa la la in Icon Magazine and a South Korean tower-block installation featured on the website Dezeen.

All these designers have effectively created a spectacle within an environment which had been previously overlooked and taken for granted. Therefore, by creating a talking point or place of interest it could be considered in many ways as bringing people together and addressing the incognito nature of built up urban environments.

Below are examples of my summer drawing project, of which I concentrated on vibrant colours, abstract shapes and botanical/natural inspired forms.
