Tropical Inspiration

Dries Van Noten A/W 14

artificial flowers add texture and depth to the already bold prints

Each ensemble nods towards the botanical theme

I found this collection relevant as well as inspiring due to the incorporation of exotic prints using contrasting hues. This adds emphasis to the prints which range from the minimal to loud and chaotic, giving attitude to the designed ensembles. The overlap of floral silhouettes creates interesting abstract forms.

I like the concept of nature being 'abstracted in new ways', this is something I have been considering within my development, especially when relating to colour scheme.

The tone of dark and subdued backgrounds is contrasted similarly to that of Dries Van Noten (A/W 14).

Interesting mark making-style prints in keeping with the 'hypnotic nights' colour scheme.

The overlapping of motifs is something I've really considered when developing prints on Photoshop. A chaotic approach creates the animated and energetic mood I'm aiming for. This draws your attention away from the individual elements, and the print is considered as a whole instead.
